BF Goodrich Tire Recalls
Dr. Benjamin Franklin Goodrich founded a tire company connected to numerous firsts in American history, the first cross-country trip in a car fitted with Goodrich tires (1903) being the most memorable. Although purchased by French tire company Michelin in 1990, BFGoodrich has remained a standalone brand on most tires manufactured.
Numerous successes have come with numerous issues throughout time, with BF Goodrich tire recalls and civil suits growing in popularity across America.

BF Goodrich Tire Recall History
During a ten-year period, 2005-2015, the tire manufacturer has recalled over 980,000 tires over various manufacturing flaws, some causing serious injury to persons who trusted the company’s product. Here are the three major recalls that affected consumers nationwide:
- 2005: 20,000 BF Goodrich tires were recalled after an internal audit unveiled a quality control process flaw. Tires were being molded from two separate casts that lacked tread wear indicators. Land terrain tires, primarily in SUVs and trucks, fitting the P235/75R15 profile were subjected to this error, with all tires being produced at Michelin’s Opelika, Alabama facility during February 29 – August 19, 2004.
- 2012: 841,000 tires were recalled due to tread belt separation. Affected models were LT 245/75 R16 120 Q LRE and LT 235/85 R16 120 Q LRE, with production dates between April 2010 and July 2012. These tires were commonly found on commercial vans and light trucks.
- 2015: 129,000 tires were recalled of which 104,000 affected the U.S. market. Because the company cited sidewall rupture as the expected fallout from their poor manufacturing, BF Goodrich Commercial T/A All-Season 2, BFGoodrich Commercial T/A All-Season, and BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A were affected. Light trucks and commercial vans were affected yet again.
